Article 7 Article 7 Eczema and heat – dealing with warm weather
Excessive sweating can cause a flare-up to occur in the summer and sweating is a higher likelihood in summer than in winter. Exercise and keep active but don’t overdo a good thing. On days that are forecasted to be very hot, plan your walks, jogs, or sporting activities for the cooler early morning hours or in the evenings as the sun goes down. Always shower immediately after overheating so no sweat has the time to settle on your skin and irritate it further. Eczema skin is ultra sensitive so treat it well and don’t do anything to aggravate it anymore than you have to.
Avoid pollens in the air and other environmental factors (such as freshly mowed grass) that can trigger an allergic reaction. Don’t avoid the sun completely though as sunlight often helps prevent and/or heal eczema. Always wear a sunscreen with SPP fifteen or thirty when you go outside and don’t forget to wear a hat to protect your head and a lip balm with SPF as well. It is a good idea to always keep your fans clean and clear in the summertime and don’t let any animal hair or dust get trapped in them and then blow back into the room. Also hang your bedroom pillows outside on your clothesline to air them out and/or consider replacing your winter bedroom pillows at the start of the summer. Pillows are not meant to last a lifetime after all. When cleaning dust or dirt in your home wear a mask to cover your nose and mouth and avoid any harsh cleaners that could irritate your sensitive skin.– dealing with warm weather
